West Virginia Rain
Soft West Virginia rain cascades through my spirit
Gentle droplets brush a lush emotional landscape
Sadness mixes with joy
Solitude from melancholy to peace
Soft West Virginia rain defines my heart
Life-giving and placid, home and friends
Tranquility wafts through a calm drizzle
Cares of the world no longer pierce my mind
Soft West Virginia rain tugs at my soul,
Whispers pleas to stay my feet
West Virginia rain mends me whole
And I wonder at how I could ever leave.

Beautiful poem Michael. I love the rain. COCO
A wonderful poem eliciting deep and very real emotions. There is a sense of green and renewal throughout the poem contradicted with an often fatal glance toward the past while the future beckons.....I know this well enough...

Oh rain, beautiful rain! Always arousing such a kaleidoscope of emotions: Sadness, longing, mourning, but also resignation, peace, gratefulness. I like walking barefoot in the streams running down the roads into the gutters, of course under an umbrella, for on our Highvelds rain is quite cold, though warm in our Lowvelds (tropical areas).
